Council to provide office space for flood-hit businesses

HAS your business suffered the loss of office space as a result of the floods in Somerset?  If so, do you require temporary FREE ‘hot-desk’ office space to work from?

In response to the severe flooding affecting Somerset, Yeovil Innovation Centre is offering flood-hit businesses temporary, free hot-desking at the centre to help support them during the most severe period of disruption.

To support businesses that have been directly hit by the flooding, the Yeovil Innovation Centre can provide a desk in a shared office and Wi-Fi connectivity.  This support is offered on a short term basis – reviewed after one month and is completely free of charge.

After visiting a number of businesses in the worst affected areas of Muchelney, Thorney, Oath and Langport, Cllr Jo Roundell Greene – South Somerset District Council’s economic development spokesman - saw first-hand how owners were struggling to continue. “We encourage those businesses directly affected and in desperate need of a desk and supportive environment from which to continue their business operation, to get in touch,” she said.

“This is just one way that the district council can help meet the needs of the worst affected businesses at a time when they most need our help.”

Cllr David Hall, Somerset County Council’s spokesman for business, inward investment and policy, said: “These terrible floods have had an impact on so many people – and that includes our local businesses.

“We are all working hard to help where we can and I’m pleased that as partners in this initiative we are able to provide a base for any firms left stranded by flooding.”

If your business has been directly affected by flooding, if you have lost office space and need the use of a desk and WiFi then get in touch and we may be able to help.

Businesses displaced by flooding in Somerset are encouraged to contact Gerard Tucker or a member of the Yeovil Innovation Centre team on 01935-385900 to find out more and to discuss your needs.
