Mystery white powder at Ham Hill could be just flour

A WHITE powder scattered at Ham Hill Country Park which left two dogs seriously ill could actually be just plain old flour.

The Yeovil Press reported yesterday (Sunday, January 5, 2014) as to how the animals became violently sick after licking a white powder which was found in a field at the country park at Stoke-sub-Hamdon on December 29.Mystery white powder at Ham Hill could be just flour

Ham Hill is managed by South Somerset District Council and a spokesman told Yeovil Press today that it is thought the substance could be just flour – but no chances are being taken and it has been sent off for official analysis.

“We collected a sample of the powder at the time of the incident and it has now been sent away for sampling,” said the spokesman.

“We are grateful to all members of the public who have contacted us with regards this incident and the most likely outcome is an identification of flour.”

But the spokesman added: “However we need to be sure to enable us to reassure all our site-users and dog walkers.

“We can provide more information as soon as we hear which probably won’t be until the end of next week at the earliest.”

Countryside rangers and police have been working together on this and anyone with information can phone 07971-111993 or email countryside@southsomerset.gov.uk.
