YEOVIL NEWS: Mayor’s Award for Down Syndrome swimmer Caroline Faithfull

INSPIRATIONAL swimmer Caroline Faithfull has been presented with a Mayor’s Award in recognition of her fantastic achievements over adversity.

Caroline received her award from the outgoing Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Darren Shutler, on Tuesday (May 1, 2018) evening at the town council’s annual meeting.

She swims for the Great Britain Down Syndrome Swimming Association and is currently raising £3,500 to help fund her planned trip to Canada later this year for the World Championships.

Cllr Shutler said: “Caroline’s achievements make her a truly deserving recipient of the Mayor’s Award.”

Caroline, 23, is Team GB captain for the Down Syndrom World Swimming Championships which take place in Nova Scotia in July where she will be competing in the freestyle and backstyle events.

She has been swimming nationally and internationally since 2012 and already this year attended the European Championships where she won gold, silver and bronze medals.

Caroline thanked Cllr Shutler for the award and also thanked her family for all of their support.
