YEOVIL NEWS: Gin and More Evening coins in cash for charity

THE Mayor of Yeovil has thanked everyone who supported his latest fundraising Gin and More Evening in aid of his two nominated charities.

Around 70 people attended the event at Majestic Wine in Sherborne Road, Yeovil, on Saturday (February 17, 2018) where they were able to indulge in a host of different gins and other drinks including rum, vodka and liqueur.

A total of £575 profit was raised on the night and this will be shared between St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and the School in a Bag charities.

The Mayor, Cllr Darren Shutler, said: “We would like to thank everyone who supported our Gin and More Evening and hope that everyone enjoyed themselves – we’re sure they did.”

Although Cllr Shutler’s two-year term as Mayor will come to an end in May he and his wife, Anna, will continue their fundraising for the two charities after they have hung up their chains of office.

They have planned another Gin and More Evening for later this year and that has already virtually sold out.
