YEOVIL NEWS: Terrifying speeds recorded on Larkhill Road

SPEEDWATCH co-ordinators have been left shocked after “terrifying” figures revealed that one vehicle was caught doing 65mph in a busy Yeovil road

Statistics from a static Speed Indicator Device – known as a SID – showed up the startling figure recorded on Larkhill Road.

Now it is hoped that a new Community Speedwatch scheme on Larkhill Road will help reduce speeds on the road.

Josh Williams, who has been involved in Community Speedwatch groups in the Abbey Manor Park and Brympton areas of Yeovil, said: “The main purpose of Community Speedwatch is to create a presence that will make motorists think twice before speeding on our roads.

“Sixty-five mph on a residential road that is used by school children daily is quite frankly terrifying when you consider Larkhill Road already has traffic calming measures.”

Mr Williams is standing a candidate in the forthcoming Somerset County Council elections for the Brympton division.
