YEOVIL NEWS: Dramatic scenic photos on show at hospital

PATIENTS, visitors and staff at Yeovil Hospital can now enjoy striking landscape images by photographer Richard Robins for the first time in the outpatients department.

The majority of images on display are from Richard’s favourite area of the country, the iconic Dorset coast and his passion for seascape and landscape shots is clear.

Richard said: “This is a fantastic coastline which offers so much opportunity for the landscape photographer. With locations such as Kimmeridge, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle and Portland Bill, it is hard not to get inspired. In fact the most difficult aspect of living so close to so many fantastic locations is deciding where to go next.”

Yeovil Hospital’s arts coordinator Caroline Barnes regularly updates the work exhibited along the gallery wall, often ensuring a local link and always selecting work that will have a positive and inspiring impact on those that see them.

Caroline said: “These coastal images are really very powerful, with wild deep pinks, oranges and reds, capturing nature at its most fantastic.”

Richard has always had an interest in photography; as a youngster he would often be found with camera taking pictures of almost anything.

But it is only since the birth of his first son six years ago that he started taking it seriously and it has now developed into a real passion.

Richard added: “Landscape photography is all about the light and timing. Capturing the light at the right moment is key - the moments before and after a sunrise or sunset can dramatically transform the scene creating something wonderful. I strive to capture and share these moments.”

All the photographs are framed and for sale at £95 with a percentage being contributed to the Yeovil Hospital Charity. The exhibition runs until March 6, 2017.
