YEOVIL NEWS: Electrical fire at residential home – residents led to safety

THIRTY residents were led to safety by emergency services personnel following an electrical fire at a residential home in Yeovil.

The alarm was raised at just after 1am on Friday (January 20, 2017) about the incident at a home in Roping Road.

Firefighters from Yeovil, Sherborne and Street were mobilised and officers found the situation involved an outside electric meter and a fuse board in the main lobby of the home with the building heavily smoke logged.

“We led 30 residents to safety and assisted the police and ambulance services to relocate them all,” said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman. “The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
