YEOVIL NEWS: Time for a rest for the posties

POSTMEN and women in Yeovil and South Somerset can take a rest today (Christmas Day 2015) after completing a manic few weeks in the build-up to the festive season.

Thousands of Christmas cards and parcels have been sorted and delivered by the postal staff.

Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh went along to the Yeovil Sorting Office in Huish on Monday (December 21, 2015) to find out more about the mammoth operation that goes into ensuring people receive that all-important festive mail.

Mr Fysh said: “It was great to visit Yeovil sorting office and meet my own postman who was busy sorting that day’s mail.

“With volumes doubling on Monday it was staggering to see over 93,000 pieces of mail and parcels processed.

“Well done to all of the team & a huge thank you from all of us in this area.”
