SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Chimney fire drama at Wincanton pub
FIREFIGHTERS were called out from across the area last night (Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 2015) following a fire at the Bear Inn in Wincanton.
A total of six fire engines were mobilised from Wincanton, Castle Cary, Gillingham and Mere at just after 8pm to help with the incident at the pub in Market Place.
Firefighters initially discovered a fire within the chimney and set to work, but the fire eventually spread through to the skirting board on the second floor and caused slight smoke and fire damage to part of the building.
