SOMERSET NEWS: Police appeal after man, 72, dies in collision crash with school bus

POLICE investigators are appealing for witnesses following a crash which saw a 72-year-old man die after the car he was driving collided with a school bus.

The incident happened at about 2.30pm on Friday (May 15, 2015) afternoon on the A39 Cannington by-pass. 

A Mercedes car travelling from Bridgwater towards Nether Stowey, approached a roundabout and turned left on to the Cannington by-pass, where it was in collision with a school bus, travelling in the opposite direction. SOMERSET NEWS: Police appeal after man, 72, dies in collision crash with school bus

The driver of the car, 72-year-old Jarvis Condon from Nether Stowey, received treatment at the scene but died shortly afterwards. 

No pupils or teachers travelling on the bus were reported to have injuries.

The road was closed to enable collision investigators to carry out a detailed examination of the scene. 

Mr Condon’s family have issued the following tribute: “Jarvis John Condon was aged 72 years from Nether Stowey, Bridgwater.  Jarvis was also referred to by his middle name, John. He was a much-loved member of his local community."

The family has asked for their privacy to be respected during this sad time. 

Collision investigators are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to help them with their enquiries.
