YEOVIL NEWS: Midwives cycling for cancer charities

FOUR midwives from Yeovil will be getting on their bikes to take part in a charity 100k cycle ride through London.

The women-only Ride the Night event takes place on Saturday, May 30, 2015, and will see ladies ride from Royal Windsor Racecourse follow a route into London and back to the racecourse.

All funds raised from the event will go to three UK cancer charities – Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

The Yeovil midwives team of Joanne Hayward, Ali Dennett, Dawn Sherry and Stephanie Larcombe have been busy training for the challenge.

They decided to take up the challenge in memory of the tragic loss of Joanne’s mum Lin Derrick who died from ovarian cancer back in 2013.YEOVIL NEWS: Midwives cycling for cancer charities

The 100k route is the equivalent to 62 miles and  the longest training ride they have had so far is 42 miles – so they know they have a big task ahead of them.

Joanne said: “It’s going to be tough, but we are all kind of looking forward to the event and raising money for charity.

“If anyone would like to donate – please do, your donation, however large or small, would be gratefully received.”

Go to their Just Giving webpage for more details: http://www.justgiving.com/teams/yeovilmidwives .

All donations have to be in by April 28, 2015.
