YEOVIL NEWS: Football fans back Flying Colours Appeal

THE Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Mike Lock, would like to thank everyone who donated to a collection last weekend in aid of the Flying Colours Appeal at Yeovil District Hospital.

An army of more than 50 bucket collectors were at Yeovil Town’s Sky Bet League One match with Swindon Town at Huish Park on Saturday (October 18, 2014).

A total of £1,136.51 was raised by the collectors – many of whom were local Girl Guides and Sea Cadets, as well as Flying Colours supporters – who went around the football fans with their buckets collecting any donations of loose change, and some notes!

The Mayor, who is supporting the Flying Colours Appeal this year, said: “That is a fantastic amount of money to have raised and I would like to thank the Yeovil Town fans, and those from visiting Swindon Town, who donated; plus everyone who volunteered to go round with the collecting buckets.”

The Flying Colours Appeal, which is raising money for the special care baby unit at Yeovil Hospital, would also like to thank everyone who supported the bucket collection at Huish Park.
