YEOVIL NEWS: Sign language to be used at Octagon Theatre panto

TWO performances of this year’s Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil will be interpreted in British Sign Language.

Evolution Pantomimes return for the third successive year to the Octagon Theatre with Jack and the Beanstalk.

Deafinite Interpreters have teamed up with South Somerset District Council and will be supplying an interpreter on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the 6.30pm performance and on Friday, January 2, 2015, at the 2pm performance.YEOVIL NEWS: Sign language to be used at Octagon Theatre panto

Block seating will be reserved for both shows so that BSL users will have access to the best seats for viewing the interpreter and the performance. Because these seats are held, they can only be accessed through the Box Office in person or post and are not available online.

The council’s equalities and diversity spokesman, Cllr Jo Roundell Greene, said: “It is great that the district council has made the pantomime accessible for all and it’s a fantastic opportunity for those with hearing difficulties to attend and enjoy the show.

“The performance was brilliant last year and I’m personally hoping it will be even better this year, although last year’s performance is a hard one to beat.”

On Thursday, December 11, 2014, all tickets will be £13. On Friday, January 2, 2015, tickets will be £17.50. Concession tickets are priced at £16 (including disabled patrons), Footlights and children £14.50.

A Family Saver ticket (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) can be purchased for £57. Parties of ten or more can purchase tickets for £13.50.

A rags-to-riches hero, a magical beanstalk and a giant – you won’t want to miss south Somerset’s biggest pantomime.
