SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Woman released without charge over Bruton hit and run

A WOMAN in her 40s, arrested in connection with the death of an 84-year-old man following a hit and run incident in Bruton last week, has been released without charge.

A man, also in his 40s, who was arrested at the same time, remains in police custody. Officers have been granted a further 36 hours to question him.

The incident happened at about 8.35pm on Tuesday (October 14, 2014). The victim was going to a local shop with his two dogs.

He was found lying in the road with serious head injuries shortly afterwards. Despite being given treatment at the scene he died later.
