YEOVIL NEWS: Hospital chief executive joins abseil challenge

FIFTY daring abseilers – including Yeovil District Hospital’s chief executive Paul Mears – have helped to raise nearly £11,500 for the hospital’s Flying Colours Appeal.

The fundraisers took part in a 100-ft abseil down the side of the hospital building on Sunday (October 5, 2014) to raise money for the appeal which is raising £500,000 to create a bigger and better special care baby unit at the hospital.

Among those with a head for heights (or not, if the case may be) were the hospital’s chief executive Paul Mears, associate director of nursing Jo Ryan and the hospital’s head of communications and marketing Simon Blackburn.

The Flying Colours Appeal’s Sarah Cherry said: “The abseil on Sunday raised a fabulous £11,358.06! Thank you so much to everyone involved.”
