YEOVIL NEWS: Lantern-making workshops for festive parade

LANTERN-MAKING sessions will be held for children – and adults – wanting to take part in this year’s Yeovil Lantern Parade as part of the switching-on ceremony of the town centre Christmas lights.

The festive lights will be officially switched-on in the town on Saturday, November 15, 2014, unlike in previous years when the event has taken place on a Thursday evening.

Part of the fun on November 15 will be a Lantern Parade through the town and organisers from the Yeovil Town Team have now announced details of workshop dates to allow people wanting to take part to make their all-important lanterns.YEOVIL NEWS: Lantern-making workshops for festive parade

These workshops will be given by PlayArt and will take place in the Quedam Centre in Yeovil on Saturday, November 1, 2014, and Saturday, November 8, 2014.

The Yeovil Town Team has said there will be four 90-minute sessions on each of the above dates.

The workshop times are 10am to 11.30am; 11.30am to 1pm; 1.30pm to 3pm; and 3pm to 4.30pm.

Each session will be for ten people. Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Adults wishing to participate themselves are also welcome!

A Yeovil Town Team spokesman said: “Places in the workshops MUST be booked in advance. The closing date for booking is October 25, 2014. Places are limited and bookings are “first come, first served.”

Booking is via PlayArt’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Playart/132937256854125?fref=ts or on 07817 083 290. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Playart/132937256854123?fref=ts or on 07817-083-290.
