SOMERSET NEWS: Camper van destroyed near Glasto site

A CAMPER van was severely damaged by fire yesterday (Monday, June 30, 2014) evening in Somerset.

The alarm was raised at just before 5.30pm to the incident in Pylle Road, Pilton, near to the Glastonbury Festival site.

Two fire engines from Shepton were mobilised, but could not do anything to save the van from being destroyed.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two 15kg gas cylinders were involved in the fire.

“Fire crews handed the incident over to the Pilton Pop Festival security staff and gave safety advice reference the gas cylinders.”

The spokesman added: “The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Fire Service and police.”

Pylle Road was used by Glastonbury Festival supporters wanting to use the parking area for camper vans and caravans.
