SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Fire at church

FIREFIGHTERS were called out yesterday (Monday, June 30, 2014) to deal with a fire at a church.

Three fire engines were mobilised at 2.30pm to the church in Abbey Street, Crewkerne, where firefighters found a small fire in the area of the pews.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews used hand tools to cut away an area of the pews to deal with the fire.”

Firefighters from Crewkerne, Yeovil and Beaminster were called out to the scene.
