YEOVIL NEWS: Council applies to have travellers evicted

COURT proceedings are being taken against a group of travellers illegally camped on council-owned land in Yeovil.

South Somerset District Council has confirmed today (Friday, June 27, 2014) that it has applied to the courts to evict the travellers from a site in Goldcroft.

A council spokesman told the Yeovil Press: “They (the travellers) have received their notices and the court hearing will be this forthcoming Wednesday on July 2.”

It was on Monday (June 23, 2014) that the travellers moved into Goldcroft. They were given a letter from the council notifying them that they were illegally camped and told to move and warned that if they did not, an application would go to the courts to have them evicted.
