SOMERSET NEWS: Louts go on vandalism rampage

POLICE are appealing for information from walkers and other members of the public to try and trace whoever was responsible for damaging fences and hedges in the Stoney Stratton area of Evercreech.

Officers from Shepton Mallet are investigating after receiving complaints about wire fences being cut and pushed aside, other fencing pushed over, hedgerows being cut to create gaps and warning signs being pulled down.

PCSO Guy Drury said: “This damage is being done deliberately in isolated places on and off footpaths. As well as the inconvenience and expense of repairs to the landowner, it could allow animals to escape and get onto nearby roads.”

Anyone who sees anything suspicious or who has any information is asked to call Shepton Mallet police on 101.
