SOMERSET NEWS: Cow winched to safety

A LARGE cow had to be rescued yesterday (Thursday, April 10, 2014) evening after getting stuck in mud on a Somerset river bank.

A member of the public called the Fire Service at just before 6.15pm to the incident at Pawlett, near Bridgwater.

One fire engine and specialist rescue team from Bridgwater was mobilised to investigate.

Officers discovered a cow stuck in mud and they used ropes and a winch to rescue the animal by 7.30pm.
