SOMERSET NEWS: Man, 89, dies nearly a month after road accident

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 89-year-old man died this week as a result of a road traffic collision which happened back in February.

An ambulance was travelling along the A39 Bristol Road in Wells when it was in collision with a car at the crossroads junction of Old Bristol Road at about 3.10am on February 23, 2014.SOMERSET NEWS: Man, 89, dies nearly a month after road accident

A police spokesman said: “A patient in the ambulance was seriously injured and taken to hospital in Bath.

“The 89-year-old man was transferred to DorchesterHospital, but died on Tuesday.”

The spokesman added: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been on the A39 in the area at the time of the incident who might have information to help our enquiries.

“Anyone able to help is asked to contact the force’s collision investigation unit on the force number 101.”

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains on police bail, pending further enquiries.
