Ammonia put through letterbox of flat

A MAN is being questioned by police in Yeovil after being arrested on suspicion of putting ammonia through the letterbox of a flat.

The incident happened at around 10.15am today (Thursday, March 20, 2014) at the Old Printing Works in Selwood Road, Frome. A man and two women inside the flat called police – thankfully they were not hurt.

A 27-year-old man was arrested, on suspicion of common assault, nearby shortly afterwards and is now in custody at Yeovil police station being questioned.

A police spokesman said: “He and the three people in the flat were examined by paramedics for any possible effects of chemical inhalation.

“Fire officers moved residents from flats on the second floor while they took tests and cleared the chemical away to make the area safe.

“The incident was over by 12.30pm.”

Neighbourhood police officers and housing association staff have since been visting residents to reassure them.
