Lynx crews arrive home at Yeovilton

THE Royal Naval Air Station at Yeovilton has welcomed home two Lynx helicopter crews as they landed together after months away on very different global deployments.

HMS Daring circled the globe, sailing 44,000 miles during a nine-month deployment with Flynx Flight 200 on board and was re-staked mid-operation to assist in the Philippines.

HMS Westminster’s Lynx Flight returned from a successful six-and-a-half month deployment in the Indian Ocean and Gulf conducting maritime security operations, counter piracy and counter narcotics patrosl, covering 36,500 nautical miles.

It was a poignant homecoming for Flight Commander Joe Harper with Daring’s Lynx as it marked his last operational flight after 38 years in the Royal Navy clocking up 6,500 flying hours.

“It has been a fantastic way to bring to a close my 38-year career,” he said.
