 Dog mess problems escalate

DOG-WALKERS are being urged to take more care and responsibility when they exercise their animals in a popular Yeovil park.

There has been a significant increase in complaints regarding dog fouling in Oak Tree Park on the Abbey Manor estate and enforcement officers at South Somerset District Council believe that they have come up with a theory as to why.

A council spokesman said: “It is suspected that a number of people are letting their dogs off the lead before they get to the park.

“It means that the dogs can make their own way into the park and subsequently foul before the owners get there.

“The enforcement officers are therefore requesting that owners keep their dogs on the lead until they enter the park and to keep their dogs in their sight at all times.”

The spokesman added: “Also, if anyone sees anyone who they suspect is not cleaning up after their dog, they should contact the council with as much information as possible.”

The council can be contacted on 01935-462462.
