SOMERSET NEWS: County is open for business!

SOMERSET County Council and Somerset Chamber of Commerce have sent a clear message to potential visitors and investors into the county – we’re open for business!

Despite the devastating flooding in some parts of the county, the majority of Somerset continues to operate normally with most businesses, shops and tourist attractions remaining firmly open.

Deputy leader of Somerset County Council, Cllr David Hall, said: “We want to re-assure potential visitors and investors that Somerset continues to be a fantastic place to visit and invest in, despite the current flooding situation we currently face in some parts of the county. We are still very much open for business.SOMERSET NEWS: County is open for business!

“We’re doing all we can to help those communities and businesses affected by flooding and we will continue to do so until this situation is over, but I am keen that all local businesses, attractions and communities across our wonderful county do not lose out on potential trade because of the current situation.”

CEO of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, Rupert Cox, added: “While we are all working hard to support those most affected by the flooding, we are also keen that the positive perception of Somerset as a great place to live and do business is not lost.

“Our inward investment arm “Into Somerset” is taking enquiries from businesses looking to relocate to Somerset who can see beyond this short term challenge that the county faces, and we are here to help and advise them to make their relocation as smooth as possible.

“Our message to businesses is that Somerset is still a great place to do business, and we invite them to come and see for themselves.”
