Family suffer racial abuse in car park

A FAMILY targeted by racial abuse returned to find their car damaged following a trip into Yeovil last week.

The incident happened on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in a car park on North Lane in the town centre.

At 3.50pm a family had parked their blue Vauxhall Zafira and were getting out of the car when two men who had just parked nearby shouted racial abuse at them and started banging something in the boot of their vehicle.

They went into town but the family – including a disabled woman and two children - was left very upset by the incident. When the family returned at 4.20pm they found their car had been badly scratched.

A police spokesman said: “An investigation has begun into the incidents and we would like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle or being scratched or can help us identify the two men who shouted at the family.

“Both men were white and the passenger had short blonde hair, a slim build, 5’9” tall and wearing a short sleeve shirt showing arms covered in tattoos. They were driving a burgundy multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).”
