Man gets stuck in floodwater on outskirts of Yeovil

A MAN had to be rescued this evening (January 1, 2014) after getting stuck in floodwater on the outskirts of Yeovil.

The alarm was raised at just before 5.15pm to Stone Lane which runs downs from the top of Mudford Road and Combe Street Lane in Yeovil towards Mudford Sock.

Two fire engines and a rescue tender from Yeovil attended the scene where firefighters found a vehicle stuck in floodwater with one male inside.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews used drysuits and walked the male driver to safety.”

The Fire Service has urged motorists not to attempt to drive through floodwater.
