Heartless thieves steal charity money from hair salon

AN APPEAL has gone out for information following a break-in at a South Somerset hair salon where charity money was stolen by heartless thieves.

The Emphasis Hair Design salon in Market Square, South Petherton, was broken into over the weekend and thieves stole £50 float money and staff tips amounting to about £80.

But staff at the salon – which is run by Tracey Smith – were left devastated when they found that the cruel thieves had also stolen more than £200 earmarked for the Get Well Somer appeal and a further £20 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind.Heartless thieves steal charity money from hair salon

Tracey’s son, Tom Sayer, told Yeovil Press that the break-in had left everyone upset and angry.

“This charity money was donated by mum’s kind and generous clients,” he said. “I know we aren’t talking about a huge amount of money, but that’s not the point. This was money for charity.”

The Get Well Somer appeal was featured on Yeovil Press last month when the Brewers Arms at South Petherton held a Child in Need fundraising night on the same day as the national Children in Need.

Somer Woodley-Dale, 12, was left with brain damage following an operation and her family – some of whom live in the South Somerset area – are raising money to buy her a wheelchair and to pay for her rehabilitation.

Anyone with information about the break-in at Emphasis Hair Design can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
