Bid to protect trees on edge of Yeovil

A BID is to be made to try and protect a group of giant trees on the edge of Yeovil from being damaged.

The towering Poplars run along Boundary Road just before the junctions with Roe Avenue and Buller Avenue on the Houndstone estate and are parallel to where work has just started on the planned 700-home development at the Lufton Key Site.

Now members of Brympton Parish Council decided at their meeting on Wednesday (October 23, 2013) that the Poplars needed to be protected.

Councillors agreed that they should bid to have Tree Preservation Orders placed on the Poplars in order to stop them from being removed in the future.

They also said that the trees would act as a buffer between the new Lufton development and some of the existing properties already in Boundary Road.
