New pub plans under discussion

PLANS to build a new pub in Yeovil will be discussed by councillors for the first time tomorrow (Monday, September 23) night.

Members of Yeovil Town Council’s planning and licensing committee will meet to discuss the application to demolish existing buildings at the former Ashleys of Yeovil premises in West Hendford and replace them with a new discount supermarket, coffee shop and pub/restaurant.

Planning officer Simon Fox has said in a report that the proposals include 108 parking spaces.

His report included that applicants Abbey Manor Capital Partners also plan to have a barrier in use to close off the car park after trading hours in a bid to cut down on anti-social behaviour by drivers.

Town councillors will tomorrow (Monday) be asked for their views on the application, although a final decision rests with South Somerset District Council.
