Man dies after tractor collision

A MOTORCYCLIST has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in a collision with a tractor and trailer in South Somerset.

The Yeovil Press reported last night that an incident had happened at Bayford Hill, Wincanton, and two fire engines from Wincanton and Castle Cary, plus a rescue tender from Yeovil, were mobilised to the scene.

Crews found a motorcyclist, in his 50s from the Bridgwater area, trapped under a trailer and they had to use road rescue equipment and air bags to get the casualty out.

He was transferred to Dorset County Hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries, but he later died.

A police spokesman said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at around the time of the collision who might be able to help our investigations.”

The Fire Service said the alarm was raised at just after 6.45pm yesterday. Anyone who can help police with their investigations should contact 101.
