Woman rescued after falling through wooden steps

AN ELDERLY woman had to be rescued by firefighters this morning (Saturday, June 15) after falling through some wooden steps.

The alarm was raised just after 11.15am to the incident in Queens Crescent at Stoke-sub-Hamdon and one fire engine from Martock was mobilised.

On arrival the fire officers found an 82-year-old woman trapped in the steps.

A Fire Service spokesman said: ‘’Crews used small tools and a power saw to release the casualty and assisted the ambulance personnel with lifting her.’’
