Plans for a caving and climbing centre in Yeovil

A LAND of adventure could be heading for Yeovil if planners give proposals the thumbs-up.

Crown Endeavours Ltd have applied to South Somerset District Council for planning permission to turn an industrial building in Buckland Road on the Pen Mill Industrial Estate into an adventure zone including climbing and caving centre.Plans for a caving and climbing centre in Yeovil

The proposals are to utilise the building as a “family adventure zone” including a climbing area and artificial caving system.

The nearest competing centres are in Exeter and Bristol.

The earmarked building was last used as a plumbers’ merchant, but has been empty for the past two years and despite a lengthy marketing campaign a tenant has not been found.

The applicants have indicated that at peak times it could be manned by up to four skilled activities instructors along with two kitchen staff.
