Yeovil Half Marathon 2013: Information for runners

THE race registration at Huish Park for runners in tomorrow’s (Sunday, March 24) Yeovil Half Marathon will be open from 7am.

Race numbers and timing chips will be available to collect at desks near the Ticket Office and will close at around 8.30am – half-an-hour before the half marathon gets started.

The 13.1-mile will start around the perimeter of the HuishPark stadium and runners have been advised that there will be a few kerbs, pot holes and pinch points and organisers have told runners to take care.

The route is totally on public highway and will be marked clearly by hi-viz arrows. Runners have been told to remain on the pavement and to avoid running in the road.

A spokesman for the organisers, Total Buzz Events, said: ‘’At each direction change or road crossing there will be marshals or police to help ensure the safety of runners.

‘’The onus, however, is to exercise common sense.’’

Any runners found to be wearing personal stereos during the run will be disqualified.

There will be mile markers and drink stations at about 4m, 6.5m and 10m where water and sweets will be available.

The spokesman added: ‘’Runners should take the advice of the signs and marshals when to cross over roads. Again be aware and alert. Runners will never be far from a marshal.’’

The race will close at 12noon when marshals will stand down and signs removed. Runners can continue after then, but athletes finishing after midday will not have a time recorded.
