Battering for Yeovil and South Somerset

YEOVIL and South Somerset has been taking a battering this evening as ferocious winds and lashing rain rages across the county.

Motorists are being urged to take extreme care if having to go out tonight. Trees are being blown down across the area with problems caused, for example, on the main road between Yeovil and West Coker.

Elsewhere in South Somerset, the road between Crewkerne and Windwhistle has been closed due to fallen trees, while similar problems were found in Sherborne Road, Yeovil.

Serious weather warnings have been issued with there being more fears about further floods across the area following on from yesterday's terrible weather.
