YEOVIL NEWS: Man charged with murder in Yeovil

A MAN is due before Yeovil Magistrates charged with the murder of Joseph Jennings.

Kristian William Bailey, 27, of Yeovil, was charged with the offence on Wednesday (July 18, 2018) afternoon and is due in court on Thursday (July 19, 2018).

The charge follows the death of Mr Jennings, 33, who was found with stab wounds in the stairwell of a block of flats in Great Western Terrace on Saturday, July 14, 2018. A post-mortem confirmed he died from these injuries.

Detective Inspector Mike Buck, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We understand the community is concerned by this tragic loss of life.

“I would like people to know that our neighbourhood officers will continue to carry out additional patrols over the coming days. I’d urge people to talk to local officers if they have any particular worries.”

DI Buck added that two men who were arrested in connection with the death have been released without charge and are now being treated as witnesses in the investigation.

Anyone who has not yet spoken to officers and may have information which could help is asked to get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, providing the reference 5218157145.
