SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Armed robbery at post office

AN investigation is under way following an armed robbery at a Post Office in Martock.

A man went into the store in East Street at about 4.40pm on Thursday (January 4, 2018) and threatened staff with what’s believed to be a firearm or imitation firearm.

Nobody was hurt but the offender left with a quantity of money.

DI Lee Jones said: “We believe the offender arrived at the scene in a silver car and parked in Foldhill Lane before going into the Post Office.

“Did you see a car parked in Foldhill Lane around the time of this incident and anyone getting into or out of it?

“The offender is white, in his twenties, with short mousey hair and he was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a grey hooded top and a dark scarf over his face.

“Did you see a man matching this description going into or out of the Post Office?

“We also want to speak to anyone who saw a dark-coloured vehicle driving away from Foldhill Lane shortly after this incident.

“We’ve recovered a car in connection with this inquiry, which will be forensically examined, and we’re carrying out a number of other enquiries including reviewing CCTV from the local area. “
