YEOVIL NEWS: Electrical fire causes problems for householders on Westfield estate

AROUND 40 properties in Yeovil had their power affected following an electrical fire in Westfield Grove.

The alarm was raised at just before 8pm to the incident and two fire engines were mobilised.

On arrival the firefighters discovered a small fire involving electrical cables and a junction box on the outside of a property. Although the fire was out by the time they had arrived, firefighters reported the cables were sill arcing.

“Fire crews checked the premises for damage and cordoned the area off awaiting an electrical engineer and subsequent repair crew,” said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman.

“The damaged cables affected about 40 properties in the road.”
