SOMERSET NEWS: Fostering in Somerset is on the ball with Yeovil Town FC

YEOVIL Town FC and Fostering in Somerset joined forces on Saturday (February 11, 2017) for an afternoon of family fun and raising awareness.

Sparky the cuddly fostering dragon and the Glovers’ Jolly Green Giant mascot had a warm up with players, greeted enthusiastic young fans in the crowd and gave the team a big welcome as they ran on to the pitch to play Leyton Orient.

Alex O’Loughlin, of Yeovil Town FC, said: “Yeovil Town Football Club was delighted to support a great cause and fun family event; with the greater hope of finding foster parents for children in the local community in need of a loving home.

“Ian Flack, our chief steward here, is particularly keen to offer his support, being a foster carer himself in the local area.”SOMERSET NEWS: Fostering in Somerset is on the ball with Yeovil Town FC

Fostering took centre stage at half-time with a special match ball presentation by Yeovil Town FC’s finance director Alan Chamberlain. The ball was signed by all the players and donated to Fostering Somerset as a prize for future awareness raising activities.

Somerset County Council’s spokesman for children and families, Cllr Frances Nicholson, said: “This was an enjoyable family event for all and an excellent opportunity to spread the message of our need for foster carers of all ages to provide children with a loving home.

“More foster carers are needed in Somerset right now. If you are over 21, have a spare room and the time to care for a child we would love to hear from you.

“I also want to thank all the staff, players and spectators at Yeovil Town Football Club who made the fostering team so welcome.”
