CHARD NEWS: From cancer to catwalk as Alison struts her stuff for breast cancer charity

A CHARD woman is all set for an unforgettable day later this year when she will take to the catwalk at the annual Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show in London.

Alison Liney will be sharing the stage with 31 other brave models from around the country on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, all of whom have had a breast cancer diagnosis, to show that you can still look and feel amazing after diagnosis and treatment.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Breast Cancer Care Show, and to celebrate, the event is taking place in a brand new glamourous venue, the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

Alison, who is looking forward to taking part in the show, said: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 just weeks after my lovely mum was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. Sadly, 18 months later she died.

“Taking part in the Breast Cancer Care fashion show this year is something wonderful to look forward to, I will feel incredibly proud.

“I really, really want to do all I can to ensure that other families are not ripped apart by breast cancer.

“I can’t wait to step onto the catwalk in front of the audience. I just wish my mum could be there with me.

“But it will be an incredible event and a great way to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and The Show is a celebration of all of us who have faced a breast cancer diagnosis.”CHARD NEWS: From cancer to catwalk as Alison struts her stuff for breast cancer charity

The models will be transformed from head-to-toe before hitting the runway, wearing a range of beautiful outfits all professionally styled by fashion director and stylist Hilary Alexander OBE and London Fashion Week coordinator Lesley Goring.

The models will also have their hair expertly styled by Sassoon Salons and the team at Estee Lauder will be adding the finishing touches to make sure they all look glam.

The emotional and uplifting glittering event has previously attracted famous faces and this year’s event will be hosted by Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Last year celebrities such as Geri Horner, Andrea McLean, Denise Lewis and Lisa Snowdon attended, and this year promises to be just as star-studded.

Samia al Qadhi, chief executive at Breast Cancer Care, said: “We are all so excited to see our inspiring models star in The Show in November.

“Taking to the catwalk is a once in lifetime opportunity for our models to show that it’s possible to look great and feel confident after a diagnosis or while living with breast cancer.

The afternoon and evening shows will celebrate the models whilst raising vital funds to support the 60,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year.”

Breast Cancer Care aims to raise around £370,000 from the event which will enable the charity to continue to provide care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer from day one.
