SOMERSET NEWS: Person suffers from smoke inhalation in Taunton fire

ONE person needed medical assistance following a fire at a property near to Taunton town centre.

The alarm was raised at just after 11.30am on Friday (June 24, 2016) to the incident in Station Road and three fire engines from Taunton and one from Wellington, plus the aerial ladder platform from Bridgwater, were mobilised with reports of smoke coming from the roof of a commercial and domestic property.

Firefighters discovered a fire located within the property involving the ducting system and at one point the fire broke into an adjacent building.

“Ambulance paramedics attended for one person believed to be suffering from smoke inhalation and the police were also on the scene,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. “The gas board and Western Power were also requested.”
