SOMERSET NEWS: Nine people injured in six-vehicle crash on M5

EMERGENCY services were called out following reports of an accident on the M5 motorway.

The alarm was raised at just before 4pm on Friday (June 24, 2016) to the incident on the northbound carriageway between Junction 25 Blackbrook and Junction 24 Huntworth.

Firefighters from Wellington, Tiverton and Taunton were mobilised and they found six vehicles were involved.

“Nine people were injured and one person needed to be released by us using hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. “We then made the vehicles and scene safe.”

Police officers, ambulance paramedics and representatives of the Highways Authority also attended while the matter was dealt with.
