YEOVIL NEWS: Hospital CT Scanner Appeal gets the support of cheese factory workers

THE Yeovil Hospital CT Scanner Appeal charity has been presented with a cheque for more than £1,300 – thanks to staff an Ilchester-based cheese factory.

Sarah Cherry, from Yeovil District Hospital’s fundraising team, went along to Norseland Ltd in Somerton Road, Ilchester, to receive the £1,326.07 cheque on Friday (February 19, 2016) from HR assistant Sarah Parkes.

Sarah and HR administrator Sue Allen co-ordinated a series of events among staff during the year including cake sales, car washes and a Christmas jumper competition to raise the money in 2015 with colleagues having selected the Air Ambulance charity to be one of the beneficiaries of their fundraising efforts.

Norseland’s chief executive officer, Nigel Meadows, said: “Norseland have always been keen to support local charities and staff were keen to get involved in charities they have nominated themselves.

“These charitable donations come on the back of the recently planted 100-tree woodland The Applewood Orchard – planted with the help of pupils from a local primary school, marking 50 years of Applewood cheese production in Somerset.”

The hospital's Sarah Cherry thanked Norseland for the "fantastic donation" for the CT Scanner Appeal at Yeovil Hospital.

A similar-sized cheque was donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance charity last Tuesday (February 16, 2016).

Norseland Ltd, with 45.4 per cent share of the British Cheese with Additive’s Market, combines the best of British and Norwegian cheese expertise and production. Tina SA, Norway’s largest dairy company, bought the Ilchester Cheese Company in 2008 and Norseland Ltd was born.
