YEOVIL NEWS: Girl Guide Lucy receives support from local councillor

A YEOVIL Girl Guide, Lucy Taylor, has received a £100 donation by a member of Yeovil Town Council towards a community project.

Lucy, 16, needs £700 to take part in the WISE (Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England) project where she and other specially chosen Girl Guides will represent their areas in the four capitals.

The aim of the trip is to grow relations between the countries, provide programme opportunities and build new friendships.

All of this experience will be taken back by Lucy to her local Girl Guides group in Yeovil. Lucy hopes to gain a sense of other cultures and customs and will take part in a community project in London during the trip.

Cllr Terry Ledlie, of Yeovil Labour Party, who is a member of Yeovil Town Council, was delighted to be the first person to sponsor Lucy who had contacted him for help as one of her local councillors.

Anyone else wanting to support Lucy can do so at her online Just Giving page -  crowdfunding.justgiving.com/lucy-taylor .

Also present at the presentation were Lucy's mother Julie, her father Graham and the two Labour candidates for the forthcoming South Ward for Yeovil Town Council’s by-election on February 16, 2015. The candidates are Martin Bailey and Joshua Tuck.

The full list of candidates standing in the South Ward by-election – where two candidates will be elected - are as follows: Martin Ronald Bailey, Labour; Florin Boieangiu, Conservative; Andrew Stephen Pugsley, Liberal Democrats; Faye Marie Purbrick, Conservative; Nicholas Andrew Swain, Liberal Democrats; Joshua Tuck, Labour.
