SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Santa Dash in Chard

AN INVITATION has been sent out to everyone who wants to take part in the Santa Dash later this month in Chard as part of the Christmas lights switching-on festivities.

The Chard Town Team will be turning on the Christmas Lights in the centre of Chard on Friday, November 27, 2015, but in recent years there has been the opportunity for local people to get involved in the Santa run - a short run or walk around the block of Chard Guildhall.

This “run “ is suitable for all ages and abilities, in fact in previous years there were entrants as young as two and as old as 86 on a mobility scooter.

This year the money will be shared 50-50 between the Christmas Lights fund and the charity Hope for Tomorrow, the mobile chemotherapy unit that stops in Chard in Tesco’s car park.

A Chard Town Team spokesman said: “You can now pick up your information pack, including a sponsorship form from Chard Guildhall front desk.

“If you can raise £10 or more in sponsorship you will receive a Santa suit and medal for completing the run.”
