SOMERSET NEWS: Dog rescued from canal

FIREFIGHTERS were called out this morning (Sunday, May 17, 2015) to rescue a dog which had got into difficulty in the canal at Bridgwater.

A specialist rescue team from Bridgwater was mobilised at just before before 11.30am to the incident off of Southgate Avenue following reports of a distressed Border Collie in the water.

On arrival the firefighters discovered the dog was under a fishing platform in the canal.

They rescued the animal and left it in the hands of the person who had contacted the emergency services.

The RSPCA will be collecting the dog.
