SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Arson attack on caravan
ARSONISTS are being blamed for destroying a caravan this morning (Thursday, April 9, 2015) near Chard.
The alarm was raised at just after 5am to the incident on the A358 Chard to Tatworth road.
Firefighters from Chard and Ilminster attended the scene and they discovered a caravan, a log pile and hedgerow on fire.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the caravan was completely destroyed, while officers were able to save around half of the three-tonne log pile.
A ten-metre section of hedge was also destroyed.
“The cause of the fire was deliberate,” said the Fire Service spokesman.
