SOMERSET NEWS: Three to appear in court after Hinkley Point protest

THREE women have been summonsed to appear in court for obstructing the highway after forming a human chain across a road near the Hinkley Point power station on Thursday (April 1, 2015).

Following negotiations by the Hinkley policing team, the three voluntarily called off their actions by 9.30am having begun their protest without warning less than three hours earlier. 

The trio from the Bristol area - aged 55, 61 and 73 - will appear in court at a later date.

A police spokesman said: “The safety of the power station was never compromised.”
