HOLYROOD Academy’s Year Nine rugby squad in Chard had the honour of being selected as Somerset’s representatives at the annual South West Under-14s State School Championships.SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Holyrood fly the flag for Somerset

The tournament was held at a sunny Burnham-on-Sea RFC last Tuesday (March 10, 2015) and Cornwall, Devon, North and South Gloucestershire were also represented.

Each team were their respective champions for the age group within their county which helped to make the competition extra exciting and of a high standard.

Every match saw fierce competition and Holyrood only lost one game on the day, which was to the eventual winners DeneMagnaSchool who were representing North Gloucestershire. It meant HolyroodAcademy came joint second overall.

Holyrood's outstanding performances were from Ben Fenton, Max Mainwaring and Zac Stabbins, with Fenton ending the day as top try scorer with four amazing individual tries.
